Scope
AIMS Ltd has a comprehensive range of in house equipment tailored
for production, research and pilot plant coverage. The facility is
equipped to virtually cover all the requirements needed to facilitate
the manufacture of simple containment filling ready for HIPing through
to complex structuring/zoning and the manufacture of MMCs.
Powder Handling
The site has a dedicated powder room with filtered air and static
grounding. Within this facility is placed a further powder handling
unit capable of working with an inert gas atmosphere. This unit is
specifically designed for working with difficult powders. Again this
unit is grounded to prevent static charges.
The facilities
on site provide the ability to handle most common metallic powder,
aluminium, ferrous and nickel based alloys.
Degassing
The facility also offers elevated temperature degassing and gas purging.
Techniques are tailored to be application specific offering ample
scope for research, one off and multi - component manufacture.
Powder Blending
AIMS Ltd has the ability to blend powder and produce complex MMCs.
This in conjunction with high energy ball milling widens the scope
for deriving unique and component specific materials.
Cold Isostatic Pressing (CIP)
We also have the ability to Cold Isostatic Press blended powders.
The site offers the utilisation of a fully programmable CIP unit capable
of running complex multi stage consolidation programmes.
The availability
of this unit offers the opportunity to pre-consolidate containments
prior to HIPing.
Containment Manufacture
AIMS Ltd offers the ability to manufacture complex powder containments
specific to application. Containment design is ongoing as a part of
normal product development.
