AIMS Ltd is active in the development of a number of high quality powder metallurgy ferrous alloys, aimed at specific applications. These materials are manufactured from specially developed powders tailored to the final application.

AIMS Ltd produces a range of deep nitriding steels for high end automotive and aerospace applications and we are developing a ferrous based alternative to tool steels for extruder applications with improved corrosion/ erosion and abrasion resistance. The range of ferrous alloys includes FeIXV and FeXV, which are comparible to CPM9V and CPM10V respectively, common in extruder applications.

All these materials benefit from fine grain sizes and a homogeneous non- isotropic structure, improving strength, fatigue life and wear resistance.

The development program is on going and includes the research and development ferrous based metal matrix composites as bar stock. Bespoke components are also produced with fibre reinforcement. This approach is targeted at increased stiffness and lightness.

Individual, customer/component specific development is targeted at the manufacture of net-shape and near-net-shape components with functionally structured or zoned materials. In many cases it is ideal to produce components with varying mechanical and physical properties; this approach is targeted at component/material marriage to provide optimum component performance.

The company provided materials as bar stock, in addition however, individual components are manufactured to net-shape near-net-shape.
